Il est donc essentiel de rechercher des sources d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie alternatives plus durables et produites en Europe. Pour relever ce d\u00e9fi, le projet <strong>LIFE MERLIN <\/strong>(Maximiser la production de biogaz gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des technologies de pointe pour une meilleure disponibilit\u00e9 des ressources et \u00e0 des outils num\u00e9riques pour une efficacit\u00e9 accrue) a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9. Ce biogaz servira ensuite de source d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie pour le fonctionnement des stations d&rsquo;\u00e9puration elles-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi, la technologie LIFE MERLIN favorisera l&rsquo;\u00e9conomie circulaire tout en minimisant le recours aux sources d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie fossiles, r\u00e9duisant par l\u00e0 m\u00eame les \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la valorisation des d\u00e9chets. En outre, cette technologie contribuera \u00e0 diminuer les importations d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie en provenance de pays hors UE. <\/p>\n<p>LIFE MERLIN contribuera de mani\u00e8re significative \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation des <strong>objectifs fix\u00e9s par la directive europ\u00e9enne sur les \u00e9nergies renouvelables<\/strong> (2018\/2001\/UE), qui stipule que 42,5 % de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie
